Italy WeatherAs far as most foreigners are concerned, the stereotypical Italian climate is a warm, sunny, Mediterranean climate. However, it should be remembered that parts of the country fall outside the Mediterranean climate zone. The inland northern areas, including the cities of Bologna, Milan and Turn, have a continental climate, and there are also high altitude regions in the North of the country which experience an alpine climate. Over all, there can be considerably temperature and climate differences across the country. During Winter for example, it is not uncommon for it to be below 0°C (32°F) and snowing in Milan while simultaneously for the temperature in Palermo, Sicily to be a balmy 18°C (64°F). During the Summer months, there can also be considerable temperature variation across the country, although usually the differences are less extreme. |
